Susan Eileen CALCATERRA

On Thursday, May 30th, 2024, Susan E. Calcaterra of Troy, MO, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, cousin, aunt, and friend, went home to be with Jesus. Susan was 80 years old. Born October 11, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri to Louis and Selma Jacobi. Susan graduated from Brentwood Highschool. She later met the love of her life John A. Calcaterrra and on September 25, 1971, they were married, enjoying 52 wonderful years together before her passing. Susan and John had one daughter Susan Hortiz. Susan is survived by her loving husband John A. Calcaterra, her daughter Susan Hortiz of Troy, MO, her grandson Alvery L. Hortiz IV of Troy, MO, her great granddaughter Khloe Hortiz, her dear sister Gail Schormann of St. Peters, Mo, many nieces, nephews, in-laws, family and friends. Susan was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Selma Jacobi, her brothers Clifford and Conrad Jacobi, and sister Alice Ann Jacobi. Susan pent 46 years as a cosmetologist owning her own beauty shops. Her 1st shop was Abi Sue’s and then she moved to the Hill and opened Jacobi Coiffures. Susan loved the friends she made through the years working as a beautician. Susan’s family was her whole world, she loved spending time with her husband, daughter, grandson Alvery and Great granddaughter Khloe. Alvery and Khloe was her heart and soul. Susan was a girl scout leader for her daughter’s troop. She was also a foster grandparent working in the schools in Troy. Susan loved playing cards and going to the casino to play slots with John. Susan loved celebrating life events and holidays. Susan and John would throw the best Christmas parties ever. Susan loved her family and friends. She was a very caring and compassionate woman, helping anyone in need. Heaven has definitely gained an angel. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her. Please join us in celebrating her life Saturday, June 8th, 2024, from 11am-3:00pm (door open @ 11am) with Services starting at 11:30am at Abundant Life Baptist Church, 21 Ridge Rd, Troy, MO 63379. In lieu of flowers, Khloe was Susan’s light of her life. I know Susan would be very pleased and would want any donations made to go to a trust fund for Khloe’s college education.
