Lisa Ann HUNING

Lisa Ann Huning was born on July 24, 1964 at St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Charles, Missouri to Ruth and Richard Huning. They found out fairly quick that Lisa was a special gift from God that would set her apart from other infants. She was diagnosed with Down Syndrome and the severity would be determined as time went on. She remained non-verbal, but learned to walk and eventually feed herself. She interacted with family and others through body language, outward emotions and her patented special noises. She had a special personality and touched the hearts of those that were a part of her life. She lived at home with her mother, Ruth; father, Richard; and brother, Mark until she was 27. She was well-cared for and had loving, patient, and caring parents throughout her entire life. Ruth made sure she led as normal of a life as possible. Ruth was a board member of Community Living for the Handicapped and was instrumental in the planning of a large group home that housed several handicapped children. Lisa moved from her family into this group home in 1992. She then moved into a smaller residence supported again through Community Living with 3 other ladies: Kathleen, Amie, and Cindy. her home had around-the-clock care with an incredible staff of care-takers that saw that these ladies' physical, emotional and social needs were fully satisfied. The outpouring of love and well wishes from the staff of Community Living, the day/activity Mahon Center, and Lisa's house was evident by the crowded ICU room and hallway on Friday, the day the Lord called her home. She truly loved and was loved! Her mother, Ruth, commented to Mark that she was a better person because God sent her Lisa. Lisa passed away at the age of 51 on February 12, 2016 at 11:00 P.M. Beloved daughter of Richard and Ruth Huning; dear sister of Mark Huning; dear sister-in-law of Linda Huning; dear aunt of Emily (Greg) Hipskind, Kathryn Huning, Amy Brown and Abby Brown. Dear niece, cousin and friend to many. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 17 from 9 - 11 A.M with a funeral service at 11 A.M at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 2800 Elm Street, St. Charles, MO 63301. Internment will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family and friends wishing to honor Lisa's memory may contribute to The Woodstone Estates, 5 Barleystone Ct., St. Charles, MO 63304 or to the Mahon Center, 100 Lee Ann Ct., St. Charles, MO 63303.
