Kenneth William FIX Sr.

Kenneth W. Fix, Sr., age 89, of St. Peters, MO, passed away on August 28, 2023. He was born on September 25, 1933, to Fred and Edna Fix (nee Schierbecker). Ken was the beloved husband of Veronica (Ronnie) C. Fix for 65 years. Ronnie passed away on May 9, 2022. Ken and Ronnie were loving parents to Karen Fix, Nancy Hooper-Roe (Mike Roe), Joyce Hill, Kenneth W. Fix, Jr., proud grandparents to Kyle Hill (Brittany Musick), Julianne (Cody) Allen, Patrick (Jaimie) Hooper, Colleen (Beau) Besancenez, Lucas Fix and Courtney Fix; and great-grandchildren include Max and June Allen, Maeve and Nora Besancenez, Thomas Hooper, Eleanor Hill, and Henrik and Harrison Hewkin. Ken is predeceased in death by his daughter, Shirley A. Fix, parents Fred and Edna Fix and brothers Fred and Donald Fix. Ken was an auditor with the U.S. Army Audit Agency for 29 years, retiring in 1991. He had the great fortune to be stationed in Frankfurt, Germany, because of that job. He spent 7 years total with his family overseas, and 3 years overseas with just Ronnie, all of which was a favorite time for him. Traveling was a lifelong passion, having gotten a taste early on when his mother took him on many train trips. Other passions included: St. Louis Cardinals baseball, beer (hopefully at the same time), watching Jeopardy and the Big Bang Theory, his German Heritage, the search for a good Oktoberfest celebration and a friendly game of Trivial Pursuit. He loved a good “discussion” over politics. To his chagrin, he was usually outnumbered by the opposing party and as a strong democrat, couldn’t sway anybody to his side of the fence. But he loved trying. His memory was phenomenal, he could recall where he was and what he had for dinner on a totally random date. This was good for a laugh at family gatherings. He loved to share stories about his time in the Navy (stationed in the desert of California), his fellow TKE buddies and their antics, and anything about his travels in Europe. Ken has made a gift of his body to St. Louis University School of Medicine for education and research, as did Ronnie. In lieu of a private service, there will be an Interfaith Memorial Service for body donors, scheduled for November 10, 2023, at 2:00 PM at SLU Francis Xavier College Church in St. Louis, MO. In lieu of flowers, please make any memorial contributions to the United Service Organizations, Inc. (USO), Salvation Army, or a charity of your choice.
