Katherine Lynne GODIER

Katherine Lynn (Haertling) Godier age 54 of St. Charles, Missouri passed peacefully on Tuesday October 26, 2015. She was born on December 22, 1960 in St. Louis, Missouri to the proud parents of Darrell and Jacquelyn (McGrane) Godier. Katherine (Kathy) worked as a nurse employed by BJC Hospital at Christian North East, and West for 20 years. She also worked for BJC St. Peters. Her love of people and the healthcare field transferred to her everyday life. Kathy became disabled in 2007 when she was diagnosed with a rare lung disease called Bilateral Obliterans Organizing Pneumonitis (BOOP) that caused her numerous physical and health challenges. For over a decade, Kathy fought hard to battle her illness, despite many setbacks and obstacles. Kathy’s disease is rare and there are not many treatments available. Despite these odds she has lived a fun filled, and joyful life. Most recently, reconnecting with the love of her life and former husband Art Haertling. Kathy loved writing and helping others. She particularly enjoyed nursing those around her back to health and giving medical advice. She also specialized in helping other people experiencing life difficulties. She really enjoyed talking and would spend 90% of her day and night chatting away. She was definitely known to be a “Chatty Kathy”. Throughout her life, it was made clear that her mission here on earth was to give to others. She is also known for her fondness of children. Beyond being known as a devoted and loving mother, she was often referred to as “Aunt Snipper”, “My favorite Aunt Kathy” or “My Second Mom”. Kathy made her family especially her children, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren a high priority in her life and always made each of them feel very special She was always there to cheer them on as they reached their milestones, and attended their life changing events with a smile and her dancing shoes. During her years of being disabled, she has been known for taking her grandchildren on many wonderful adventures. Her thirst for adventure and knowledge will precede her in death and live on in those she has touched here on Earth. Dearest Mother to Jeffrey and Mother in Law to Steffanie Haertling, Rebecca (Haertling) and Son in Law Robert Murphy, Grandmother (aka Boo Boo) to Jack and Ava Haertling, (aka Marmy) to Molly and Maggie Murphy. Dear Former Wife to Art Haertling Sister to Paula (Craig) Kratzer, Karen (Rob) Unnerstall, and Darrell Jr. (Kellie) Godier. Kathy was a devoted mother, and grandmother. She always put the final touches on every event, holiday or gathering. Known for her culinary expertise, her zany sense of humor and her unconditional love of family, friends, fun, and food. Memorial visitation Tuesday November 3, 2015 9:00am with a memorial mass at 10:00am will be held in her honor at St. Roberts Bellarmine Catholic Church. In Lieu of flowers, Kathy has requested that you “Don’t vote for Hillary” and consider the purchase of Mass cards in her honor.
