John Arthur SOMMERVILLE

John Arthur Sommerville October 10, 1946 - May 24, 2023 John passed away peacefully of May 24th, 2023. He was born in St Louis, Missouri on October 10th, 1946. John served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged after 13 years of service. While in the service, he was stationed on many bases throughout the world: Germany, Southeast Asia, several United States bases, but his favorite was Alaska. After service, he enjoyed many jobs: bartending, security, driving trucks over the road for Big 6 trucking, and delivering his favorite Miller Light and other Miller products for Wendler distributions. John was an active member of the Knight of Columbus Council 823 and was Knight of the year in 2015. He also held a Lifetime membership to the VFW Post 2866. John enjoyed all sports and loved participating throughout his life. At Duchesne High School, he played baseball and soccer. While in the service, he played football and hockey, where he survived and loved being the goalie. After the service, he continued his sporting activities through golfing, bowling, and slow pitch softball. John was a huge fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and enjoyed Cardinal Baseball and Blues Hockey. John loved his children and was especially close (Father/Daughter bond) to his daughter Kimberly. Although out going in public, he was a very private man. His heart went out to all his family members. Always remembering birthdays, anniversaries, special occasions of all sorts. He especially loved keeping track of his grandkids, nieces, and nephews, and admiring all their successes and adventures. He is loved and will be missed by all! John was proceeded in death by his parents, Arthur, and Elizabeth (Brown) Sommerville, his brother Timothy and his grandsons, Joey, and Justin Simes. He leaves behind: His daughter, Kimberly Simes, His sons: Timothy and Todd. His siblings, Michael (Mary), Kathleen Bruns, Eileen (Randy) Baker, and Mary Ellen Sommerville. His sister-in-law Nancy Sommerville, grandchildren, great-grand children and many nieces and nephews; Very special friend Saundra Stortz. Funeral Arrangements: June 9, 2023 Jefferson Barracks Cemetery 10:00am In Lieu of flowers: Mass Intentions @ St Peters Catholic Church in St Charles, Missouri.
