Gerard A. NIETERS

Gerard (Jerry) Anthony Nieters passed away peacefully on May 30, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 23, 1961, Jerry dedicated his life to his faith, his family, and the causes he believed in. Jerry was devoted to his Catholic faith. A lifelong parishioner, he served in various capacities, and was dedicated to regular Eucharistic Adoration. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, guiding him in his daily actions. A steadfast pro-life advocate, Jerry's dedication to the sanctity of life was a defining feature of his career as a lawyer. Championing litigation to protect the unborn, he tirelessly worked on cases that upheld the rights of the most vulnerable. Jerry's work with Missouri Right to Life played a crucial role in advancing pro-life legislation. His legal expertise and unwavering commitment to this cause made a substantial impact, inspiring many. Above all, Jerry was a family man. He was the beloved husband of Mary Nieters for 39 years, a loving father to four children—Whitney, Stephen, Chloe, and Bethany—and a proud grandfather to five grandchildren: Liam, Arianna, Caleb, Evelyn, and Johnathan. He was also survived by his dear father, Richard Nieters, and his brother, Rick Nieters. His mother, Joan, will be awaiting him in heaven. Jerry's family was his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He was known for his warmth, wisdom, and the gentle strength with which he guided his family. He also leaves behind a large extended family and countless friends who will miss his kindness, humor, and support. Jerry has asked that his body be donated to SLU to help in the battle against cancer. A memorial mass will be held at 11am on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Church of Dardenne in the main church (not the chapel). There will be visitation with the family at 9:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Missouri Right to Life, St. Vincent DePaul Society or ICD church. Gerard (Jerry) Anthony Nieters' legacy of faith, family, and compassion will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in peace, knowing his life made a profound difference.
