George WILLIAMSON Jr.

George Williamson Jr., died peacefully in Columbia, MO on Friday, November 23, 2018 surrounded by family. George Williamson Jr was born May 3, 1935 in Burlington, IA to George Williamson Sr. and Rose Lee Jenkins. George grew up in Burlington and received his education at St. John's Catholic School. George joined the United States Army in 1953 and served his country proudly and honorably as enlisted Sergeant. George's military time included ammunition specialist, infantry, artillery, and guard duty. He retired from the US Army in 1966. Several years after his military duties were completed, George worked various jobs through out his life. He cooked for travelers at the Burlington Hotel, Perkins Restaurant, and George Webb Restaurants. George worked in construction at B & S Construction with his late brother, Robert Williamson, among other various jobs. George lived in Burlington until the early 1990's when he and his brother, Robert, moved to Milwaukee, WI to be closer to his sister, Katherine and other family members. In 2016, George moved to Wright City, MO to be near his nieces and nephews. George was an outgoing man who enjoyed an occasional beer or two. He was an outdoors man who would sit outside for hours, even when the temperatures were scorching. He enjoyed playing the lottery, playing slots, blackjack, and poker at the casinos, fishing, and watching sports. George never married of had any children. He leaves to mourn his death his nephews: Kevin (Noreen) Sharp of Forest City, IA; Terry Williamson of Wright City, MO; Rodney Sharp of Forest City, IA; George E. Williamson of Burlington, IA; Wayne Williamson and Robert Williamson Jr., both of Atlanta, GA. He leaves his nieces: Diane Holland of Burlington, IA; Loretta Morris of Clarksville, TN; Sherry Williamson of Wentzville, MO; Leslie Williamson, Camille Williamson and Susan (Lance) Traylor, all of Wright City, MO. and a host of great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and many friends. George is now reunited in glory with his parents, brothers: James Jenkins and Robert Williamson. Sisters: Anna Williamson, Ella Sharp, and Katherine Williamson. George will be greatly missed by those who knew him and loved him most. A visitation will be held on Monday, December 3, 2018 from 9 A.M to 11 A.M with a service to follow at Alternative Funeral & Cremation Services, 2115 Parkway Drive., St. Peters, MO 63376. A graveside will be held following the service at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at 1:00 P.M.
