Diane KING

On Saturday, September 17, 1955, Diane (Emring) King was brought into the world by Patricia Smith (deceased) and George Emring. She was the oldest of her four siblings, Sharon Mareschal (Joe), Pamela Fredericks (Mike), Dave Emring (Vicki), and Kevin Emring (Kim). Diane loved and guided her siblings. She continued to be a mother-like figure to them until the Lord took her home. She met her best friend and love of her life, Dave King, on the football field in 1971. Dave, playing his trombone, and Diane, playing the cymbals, they literally bumped into each other during band practice. Their band teacher, Bob Schleinat, told Diane to stay away from “that Dave”. Obviously, she didn’t listen and married him on April 5, 1975. After being happily married for three years, Diane gave birth to her first of four children, Tom (Madelyn). In the years to follow, Becky (Jason), Jim (Amy), and Katy (Jake) were born. Diane worked as a lab technician B.C. (before children…..she always said that). She was also a church custodian, Hardin Middle school aide, St. Charles High library aide (11 years), and retired with the Jennings School district as an elementary librarian for two elementary schools. She led students and staff with her wisdom and constant encouragement. Many longing relationships came from her work places. Diane felt a true calling that God placed her in each of her career endeavors. While working full time and raising four children, Diane completed college with a Master’s degree, graduating with a 4.0. She was an inspiration to many, including her four kids. They all graduated with a Bachelor’s degree. The loves of her life were her grandkids. Hailee, Sarah, Eli, Emilee, Norah, Cooper, and Samantha (almost here) were her gems. They could do nothing wrong and she always said how they were her gifts from God. Diane shared her love of Jesus to each one and prayed for them daily. Nothing made her happier than to tell perfect strangers how proud she was of her husband, kids, grandkids, family, and friends. Most importantly, Diane’s faith is what shaped her into the person she was until the end of her life on earth. On Saturday, March 21st, 2015, in the comfort of her home and surrounded by family, Diane was welcomed into the arms of Jesus.
