Bonita Rose Woerner, lovingly known as “Nita,” passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025, in Troy, Missouri, surrounded by her devoted sisters. Born on June 17, 1977, in St. Louis, Missouri, Nita was a radiant presence in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her life was marked by compassion, kindness, and a steadfast faith in God. Nita was a woman of deep conviction and quiet strength, whose warm smile and generous spirit left an indelible impression on everyone she met. Her passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of her family and friends, but her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched. We invite you to remember her not only for the love she shared but also for the vibrant way she lived her life—fully, joyfully, and with purpose. A graduate of Fort Zumwalt North High School, Nita went on to earn her bachelors degree in Social Work from the University of Missouri–St. Louis. She began her professional career with the State of Missouri’s Division of Family Services, serving the North St. Louis community for over a decade. She later brought her compassionate expertise to Mercy and BJC HealthCare, continuing her commitment to supporting others in times of need. Her faith and desire to serve were the foundation of her life’s work. Beyond her vocation, Nita found great joy in the company of family and friends. She loved reading, watching classic films and television especially, I love Lucy, attending concerts, the Muny and embarking on adventures across the United States and France. Her curiosity, humor, and deep affection for those close to her made her a treasured companion. Nita is survived by her father, Gail Woerner, and her loving sisters: Lorie (Woerner) Vilbert, Maureen (Woerner) Stuart, Catharine Woerner, and Shannon (Woerner) Parmeley. She is also survived by her beloved brothers-in-law—Jim Vilbert, Michael Stuart, and Van Parmeley—whom she fondly referred to as her brothers. Though she did not have children of her own, Nita played a vital and loving role in the lives of her nieces and nephews: Christine Johnson, Amy (Johnson) Roe, Nicholas Woerner, Robyn Johnson, Elizabeth (Parmeley) Keenan, Brittany Johnson, Alexandria (Parmeley) Ritterbush, Maximus Stuart, Samuel Stuart, and Elijah Stuart. She was also a cherished godparent and friend, and she delighted in the company of her grandnieces: Alice Parmeley, Sarah Roe, and Harmony Woerner. She was preceded in death by her mother, Bonita (Zurweller) Woerner. Those who knew Nita will remember her for her boundless kindness, her infectious smile, her generous nature, and her unwavering Catholic faith. Her ability to uplift others and bring warmth to any room was a rare and beautiful gift. A celebration of Nita’s life will follow the service from 11am-3pm at 1860 Schulhaus : 4612 highway z New Melle, Mo. 63386 and the family warmly invites all who knew her to join in honoring her memory.
