Angela Rose DEPRIEST

On September 30, 2024, the most tenacious and upbeat person to ever come out of Warrenton, Missouri, went peacefully to sleep and woke up in Heaven. Angela Rose DePriest was born Angela Good on April 13, 1971. She liked to say that her life really began twenty years later when, while working at Phillips 66 in Foristell, Angie met a young police officer named Rodney DePriest. Rodney would check in at the truck stop to make sure the pretty young woman was doing all right while working the night shift alone. A relationship quickly developed and they married on June 13, 1992, in a small ceremony at the First Baptist Church in Wentzville, Missouri. Rodney adopted Angie’s daughter Rebekah and they moved into a new house in a new subdivision in O’Fallon, Missouri. A second daughter, Jillian Rose, arrived in 2003 and a son, Ethan Conley, came quickly after in 2004. Their family was complete and happy. In 2008, Angie was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Despite being given a small chance of survival, Angie was determined to see her children grow up. She went through dozens of rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, remaining upbeat and positive. She continued to work in the flower department at Schnuck’s (a job she took after working as a Bankruptcy Specialist for Chrysler Financial) throughout her ordeal and, in 2010, her cancer was declared in remission. Angie raised her children, reveling in their successes. She celebrated the births of her grandchildren, Caleb and Levi, and loved spending time with them. She constantly bragged about her husband’s acts of kindness and accomplishments as a police officer. And she opened her home and heart to a steady stream of canine companions. In April of this year, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a partial mastectomy, but the cancer had spread. When it reached her brain, her body already damaged by her previous cancer battle, she made the decision to choose quality of life over quantity. She continued to live life as fully as possible until August, when she entered hospice. Surrounded by her family (both two- and four-footed), she basked in their love, remaining cheerful. Even when the tumor began causing hallucinations, she was upbeat. She frequently believed her house was made of Velcro and that her husband was moving it around. When their house “moved to England,” she announced to her family that she was “going for a walk among the people” so she could meet them as a queen would do. And that’s Angie in a nutshell: cheerful, outgoing, and always seeing the bright side of things. Angela is survived by her husband of 32 years, Rodney DePriest; her children Rebekah Avery-DePriest (Stephen Avery), Jillian DePriest, and Ethan DePriest; her mother Linda Bote; her much loved mother-in-law Linda DePriest; her grandchildren Caleb Fink and Levi Avery; her sister-in-law Michel DePriest (Warren Grable); and her three precious dogs, Mario, Huck, and Odin. Welcoming her in heaven were her beloved grandmother Carolyn Bote, her very special father-in-law Conley DePriest, and her four-footed children Garth and Beth.
