Addah Ray HARRIS

Addah Ray Harris, 74, of St. Charles, MO, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on November 4, 2025. She was born in Houston, TX in 1951 to Buddy and Margaret Satterley and moved to Maryland Heights, MO in 1965. Although a Missouri resident for the majority of her life, she fiercely identified as a Texan and taught all her children the “Texas ways”. She attended Pattonville High School before studying Music Education at Southeast Missouri State University. Addah was passionate about teaching music to children and worked for the Ferguson-Florissant School District as an elementary school music teacher for over 30 years. After retiring in 2010, she volunteered as the Pre-K music teacher the following year. Addah was also the choir director for Littlest Angels and Cherubs at First St. Charles United Methodist Church. Addah was an avid reader and instilled a love of reading in her daughters. She could often be found with a stack of books by her side while watching the Cardinals games with her beloved dog, Daisy. Her daughters’ fondest memories of her come from summer vacations filled with multiple trips to the library, the pool, the Muny, the Zoo, Six Flags, and the month-long road trip to Texas. Her favorite parts of that annual trip were James Coney Island chili, the license plate game, roller coasters, and trips to the beach for shell collecting. Addah was preceded in death by her parents, Buddy and Margaret Satterley; her siblings, Falene Eckhardt and Robin Satterley; and her husband, Steven Harris. She is survived by her children, Miona (Tim) Lee, Robyn (Nathan) Nelson, Susan (Riley) Shipley; grandson, Ryan Nelson; and countless beloved family and friends. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 15 at First St. Charles United Methodist Church, 801 First Capitol Drive, St. Charles, MO 63301. Visitation will be held 11am- 12 pm with service following at 12pm. Addah always chose to add color to her own life, so her family asks that anyone attending wear bright colors in her honor. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Save the Music, Play it Forward, or the American Library Association.
