Ronald Lester Kopp (81) January 4, 1941 – June 14, 2022 Ronald Lester Kopp passed peacefully at his home in St. Charles, MO surrounded by his loving wife of 55 years, Sandra, his daughters and eldest grandson at 11:35 am on Tuesday, June 14, 2022. Ronald was the life of the party and lit up the room with his presence. His ability to recite jokes for hours on end was something that all who loved him looked forward to at family events and gatherings. A gifted musician, he had the natural talent to play several instruments by ear, although his passion was playing the guitar. In younger years, he played with many local bands including Chuck Berry and Ike and Tina Turner. His musical legacy will live on through his children and grandchildren who will always cherish his teachings as they play in his memory. He had the gift of gab, speaking with everyone he came in contact with. He often said. “There’s always room at the table for one more.” He never met a stranger and was always compassionate and made everyone feel welcomed. Before retirement, he was employed as a truck driver as a Teamster of Local 610 and later drove for the American Red Cross. He was a member of The Sons of the American Legion, Squad 444, in honor of his late father’s service to our country. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents Lester Hubert and Amelia Carolina (Mansbridge) Kopp and his sons, Gerald Allen and Daniel Vincent Kopp. He is survived by his wife, who says he was the light of her life, Sandra Loretta (King) Kopp; his children: Michael Kopp, Karen Heckenkamp (Daren), and Rebecca Kelley (Jason); his grandchildren: David Kopp, Melissa Kopp Todd (Jim), Christopher Heckenkamp, Nicole Kopp Bruno (David), Courtney Kelley Griner, (Zachary), Craig Kopp (Abigail), Amanda Kelley Lutz (Jake), Jacob Kelley, Kayla Kopp King (Damien), Haley Kelley Marcantel (Heath), and Steven Heckenkamp; his great-grandchildren: Anden, Rowan and McKellen Todd, Levi Bruno, Kaelyn, Natalie and Camrynn Kopp, Alexis King, Eliana, Elijah, and Amos Griner, and Peyton, Dawsyn and Gracyn Lutz; his siblings: Janet Mitzel (Denny), Robert Kopp (Jeanette), Randall Kopp (Erline), and Eric Kopp (Gwen) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Rhonda, Adrienne, Jason, Jeannine and Bruce of Kindred Hospice for their dedication and care to Ronald and his family. T hey truly went above and beyond and their kindness and compassion will never be forgotten. As a lover of all life, Ronald would have greatly appreciated a donation in his memory to your local Humane Society, in lieu of flowers. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
