Paul Arthur Edward SCHEER Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Paul was born in Washington, Missouri to Paul Edward Scheer and Ida Louise Amanda Scheer in July 1936. He grew up in Washington, Missouri where he attended Immanuel Lutheran Church and school. While in high school he drove trucks for a local grocery distributor and worked at a filling station on weekends. He went on to attend Ranken Technical College and earned a drafting degree. His career with Schwartz and Van Hoefen allowed him to work on numerous projects throughout the St. Louis Region. Paul became a licensed architect and worked as an architect and project manager until his retirement from HBE in 2000. On August 17, 1958, he married Joanne Ruth Scheer at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bonduel, Wisconsin. In 1962 they moved to St. Charles, Missouri. They had four children. Paul was active in his community as a volunteer with a number of organizations, including the urban renewal/planning committee for St. Charles and a number of other boards. He also served as president and vice president for the local AAL Chapter, superintendent of Immanuel Lutheran Sunday School, as member of the building committee for Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church, as a scout leader, and as an umpire for youth baseball. Paul enjoyed remodeling his century home, woodworking (making and refinishing furniture), painting, traveling and spending time with his wife, four children, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. During retirement Paul and Jo visited 92 countries and all seven continents, including cruises to Antarctica and the Fiji Islands. He gave generously of his time and talent with family by working on various projects with his children and providing well sought-after advice. Paul enjoyed life. He was a friend to all, including anyone he met in passing. He would strike up a conversation with a stranger as easily as he would with a lifelong friend and was able to recognize people no matter how long since they last met. He will be missed and remembered by all of his friends and family, particularly the annual happy birthday message that he and Jo enjoyed sharing with each family member. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Ida, his sister Imogene, and her husband Norman Meyer. Paul’s life continues to be celebrated by his wife Joanne, his children Mark, Tim (Terri), Jon (Kay), Martha, nine grandchildren: Nathan (Kayla), Abby (Adam), Alex, Allison (Hunter), Megan (Daniel), Sam, Max, Elliot, and Julian, great-grandchildren Palmer and Henry, and those yet to come. Paul accomplished much during his lifetime and always encouraged us to celebrate life. He will remain in our hearts and thoughts until we come together in heaven with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
