Patricia Ann BJERKESTRAND Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Patty Bjerkestrand, 86, of St. Charles, MO, passed away February 10, 2021 with her family by her side. She was born Patricia Ann Magnussen to the late Georgia and Elmer Magnussen, March 17, 1934, in Des Moines, IA. Patty graduated from East High School in Denver, CO in 1951. She married the late Lyle Bjerkestrand in 1953 in Longmont, CO, and they lived together in many places which included Midwest City, OK; Casper, WY; Springfield, IL; Des Moines, IA; Florissant, MO; and finally settled in St. Charles, MO. where she lived for 55 years; the last two years at Mt. Carmel Senior Living in St. Charles, MO where she was loved and well cared for. Patty is survived by four children: Cary (Rich) Moore, of Mercer Island, WA; Mark (Debbie) Bjerkestrand, of Longwood, FL; Cathy (Mike) Nolle, of St. Charles, MO; and Matt Bjerkestrand, of O’Fallon, MO. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Ryan (Rachel) Moore, of Kirkland, WA; Chris(Sara) Carmichael, of Las Vegas, NV; Ricky (Jamie) Johnson, of St. Charles, MO; Ryan (Lauren) Johnson, of St. Charles, MO; Matt Moore, of Boulder, CO; Drew (Jaime) Nolle, of St. Peters, MO; Brett Nolle, of St. Peters, MO; Briana (Trey) McCoy, of Longwood, FL; and Blake Kuester, of Lake St. Louis, MO. And four great grandchildren: Neil, Alanna, Aurora and Luke. Her sister, Barb Neavill of Fargo, ND; three sisters-in-law: Judi Magnussen of Belen, NM; Anna Jane Hinderaker of Ames, IA; and Mary Lou Vikdal of Davenport, IA. Patty was predeceased by her daughter, Cindy Carmichael, her brother, Don Magnussen, and her parents. Patty was an adventurer from the start. She was an accomplished pianist, artist, seamstress, gardener, cook, and decorator. She loved to fly and enjoyed an occasional drag race in her 1940 Ford Coupe. She loved to travel whether around the world or down the street and was always able to find the beauty in the ordinary. Patty’s drink of choice was iced tea and she loved spending time with her family. She will be missed and is loved dearly by many people. No service will take place but we hope that you will remember and celebrate her life in your heart as we are…which is what Patty wanted.
