Michael A. MITRA Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Michael A Mitra, of Lake St. Louis, MO died on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at the age of 72. Beloved son of the late Anthony and Sarah Mitra (nee:DiLorenzo), brother to the late Rosemary Mitra and Charles Mitra; and survived by his siblings Johanna Morris (nee:Mitra), Frank (Dolly) Mitra, and Antoinette Wallace (nee:Mitra); loving wife Robin Mitra (nee:Reed); devoted father of Nina (Timothy) O’Daniels, Desiree (Jason) Lang; step-father to Michael Rosa, Kyle (Marissa) Rosa, and Miles (Heather) Rosa; cherished grandfather of Benjamin and Lucas O’Daniels, Garret and Audrey Lang, Landen and Amelia Rosa, and Alaina and Silas Rosa. After high school, Michael spent his years working at Kroger Dairy in Hazelwood, making lifelong friends who still sometimes meet for breakfast, until the dairy closed in 1989. At age, 41, he enrolled in nursing school and received his associate degree. It was in nursing school that he met Robin. The two eventually wed on June 4, 1999. He worked at St. Anthony’s hospital until he and Robin caught the travel bug and headed out West to work for months at a time. He enjoyed biking, hiking, visiting national parks, camping, and his favorite- spending time with family. His Italian heritage was important to him and in 2015, he took his daughters on a dream trip to Sicily. Many lasagnas and pots of sauce were enjoyed at his table. Mike’s other hobby was woodworking. Walking through his house you can find his handmade dining table, dresser, headboard, Murphy bed, entertainment center, and newly remodeled kitchen. In late 2017, he was diagnosed with Hereditary Amyloidosis which significantly changed his active lifestyle. Determined not to let this diagnosis change his life, he continued to remain as active as possible and never complained about his disease. He traveled, exercised, and worked in his shop as much as he could. His last days were spent with close family, listening to the stories of their daily lives. And that is all he asked for in life, to be surrounded by family, telling stories. A nice big pot of sauce would have been nice, too. Michael requested a celebration of life be held in his honor instead of traditional funeral services. We request all of Michael’s loved ones to join us in celebrating his beautiful life at the Webster Community Building (inside Webster Park) at 2201 S. River Road, St. Charles, MO, on Friday, July 8 from 2pm-8pm.
