Martha WALKER

January 29, 1943 - December 29, 2020

Martha Walker was born January 29, 1943 in St Louis, MO. to Florence Maxie and James Jones. Mother Walker, as she was known to many, was a long time saint, originally confessing her faith at Old Landmark COGIC and later attending Harvest Church under the leadership of Frank Thompson. In her youth, Martha was a social butterfly. She was active in the CB community and went by the handle "Lady Greyhound." Martha was often admired for her sewing expertise - what was seen on the window as drapes at 8am would be whipped into a stylish jacket before dinner. In addition to sewing, Martha enjoyed cooking, reading and serving others. She enjoyed fellowshipping with others through her involvement with the Red Hat Society and several other social clubs. She served as a confidant for many, and was known to offer a dose of loving yet, brutal honesty. She enjoyed a 40 year marriage to Eugene Walker and birthed 6 children. Mother Martha Walker gained her heavenly wings on December 29, 2020. She is preceded in death by her loving husband: Eugene Walker, Son: Jimmie Hopkins, Siblings: Thomas Maxie, Beverly McNeal, and Blanche Timms. Left to honor her memory are her siblings: Pamela Cloudy, Delores Maxie (John Jones), Gwendolyn Williams (Matt Williams), and Willie Guest (Beatrice Guest), her children: Norman Hopkins, Denise Britt (Gary Britt), Larry Hopkins (Tracey Hopkins), Theresa Thomas (Theo Thomas), and Marsha Mallory, She leaves behind a host of other grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. She touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed.
