Marianne WIEGAND

Marianne Wiegand, of Wentzville, MO died on May 20, 2020 at the age of 73. She was born May 12, 1947 in Saint Louis, Missouri to James and Mary Wiegand. She is survived by her Loving children, Tony(Janelle) Stepetin, Tracy(Steve) Helmich and Katy Wilkinson; cherished grandmother of 8; treasured great-grandmother of 1; beloved sister of Sally Reuther, Rosanne Wiegand and Jack Wiegand. She is preceded in death by her parents,James and Mary Wiegand. Marianne loved being with her family and was especially proud of all of her grandchildren. She loved to find something unique about each of them and tell everyone about that special trait. She also loved scuba diving and all marine life. She found every piece of the undersea world fascinating, especially if it was a warm climate. She was an avid bookworm and was fascinated with the biological world, with a child like curiosity that never ended—she always wanted to explore the “why” and “where” of life and how things were created, as well as all of their purposes in the different kinds of ecosystems. She was undeniably a continually learning person that had to feed her brain... Non-stop! She loved any kind of puzzle; jigsaws were nothing to her, and she would race to do the New York Times Crossword with her coworkers, loving the competitive spirit of being the first to figure them out. There were so many more things Marianne loved and are hard to put into words. She was an easy person to make smile and was able to find joy in the smallest of things. Her family and friends will remember her sense of humor, and she kept laughing all of her days. The SSM Hospice Care team did a fantastic job of caring for her—not just medically, but as a person. Any person we met from her care team took the time to listen and share stories with her, and to just learn about her as a person.
