Leon Ray JOHNSTON Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Leon Ray Johnston, passed away at 57 years of age on March 15, 2022. He passed at home in Maryland Heights, Missouri from natural causes. Leon was born in Aurora, Illinois on the 11th day of July in 1964 to a loving mother, Carol June (nee Stevens) Johnston and father Charles Raymond Johnston. To his family and friends Leon was known as Lee. He attended East Aurora High School class of 1982. He started a successful career in men’s shoes and worked his magic at Kenny’s Shoes to Chernin’s in Chicago. Lee retired his career from Nordstrom’s in St. Louis, Missouri. For Lee it was all about shoes. His charming, charismatic personality coupled with knowledge and the gift of gab made him very successful. He was the best in the business. He was passionate about selling shoes, and it showed. Although Lee never married, he unknowingly brought a family into this world. His strong, loving commitment to his sister Donna and her husband Greg and their children created a family for Lee that was like his own. Lee is survived by his loving sister Donna (nee Johnston) Killoran, a brother Chuck (Chuckie) Johnston, brother- in- law Greg Killoran, step mother Judy (nee Orr) Johnston, step brother Darrel Taylor, step brother Jeff Taylor, step sister Michelle (nee Powell) Crouch. Lee was an uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews. Because Lee knew no strangers, he touched many lives. He was truly loved by many and will be sorely missed and never forgotten. To honor Lee’s wishes, there will be no service. A celebration of life will be planned at a later time.
