James R. KALTENBACH
September 8, 1930 - February 2, 2020
James R. Kaltenbach passed away Sunday, February 2, 2020 at the age of 89. Jim was the beloved husband of Betty (Nicks) Kaltenbach; loving father of Kathi Kaltenbach, Shari Kaltenbach, and R. David (Angela) Kaltenbach; step-father to Doug Wideman and Dennis (Candy) Wideman; devoted grandfather of Timothy (Meghan) Kaltenbach, Megan (Leo) Wright, Lindsay Wideman, Alana Wideman, and Nolan Wideman; great-grandfather to Lucas, Katelyn, Isaac and Christian Wright; uncle, great-uncle and friend to many. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Naomi Alberta Kaltenbach; brother Robert Lee Kaltenbach, sister-in-law Lois Jean (Wurl) Kaltenbach, sister Betty Jean (Kaltenbach) Bergfeld Stevens, and granddaughter Katelynn Wideman. Jim was born and raised in the St. Louis area. After graduating from Ritenour High School in 1948, he served in the US Navy during the Korean War, and returned to St. Louis to a long career as a tinner working for the family business, H&K Heating and Air Conditioning. He loved being on the water and lived for many years in his “Never Done” clubhouse on the Mississippi just past the Winfield Ferry landing. He loved spending time with friends and family on his boat, league bowling and playing golf. After retiring, he continued to work part-time work in the HVAC trade and played golf whenever he got a chance. In his 80, he joined American Legion Post 388 in O’Fallon, MO and proudly served as a member of their Honor Guard. Jim was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, family and friends may make a memorial contribution to the American Legion Post 388 in O’Fallon, MO in James’ memory. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, March 06, 2020 from 12-2pm with a service at 2pm at Alternative Funeral & Cremation Services, 2115 Parkway Drive., St. Peters, MO 63376.
