James Melvin HICKMAN Jr

August 12, 1942 - February 10, 2022

James “Sonny” Melvin Hickman, Jr. of St. Charles, Missouri, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022, at the age of 79. Dear husband of the late Carol Hickman; dear son of the late James and Mary Rita Hickman; devoted father of Lisa Kuhlmann; and cherished grandfather of Nicole Kuhlmann and Tyler Kuhlmann; dear brother of Mary Ann Fry (Gil), Sharon Wellman (Paul), David Hickman (Shirley), and Tom Hickman (Betty); dear uncle, cousin and friend to many. James proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He retired in 2005 from Bax Engineering after many years as a land surveyor. James always looked forward to attending all of his grandkids school and sporting events. He loved to have dinner with family and watch funny movies. For many years he enjoyed dancing with his wife, and at any wedding reception he could always be found on the dance floor. He also enjoyed watching Nascar races, wrestling, baseball, and fishing. James was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. There will be a Memorial Service at Alternative Funeral & Cremation Service on Friday, February 25, 2022 at 11:30 am. There will be a Graveside Service at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery on Friday, February 25, 2022 at 1:30 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Kaufman Fund @ https://www.thekaufmanfund.org/donate. The Kaufman Fund is dedicated to helping Veterans and children in need.
