James Terry BROWN Sr.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of the beloved James Terry Brown (Jim, Ralph, Ferd), who died peacefully the early morning of July 30, 2023. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Mary Susan “Sue” Brown (Jaeger) married 59 years. Born December 10, 1941 to Hazel and Frank Brown, Jim was born in Granite City, Illinois and raised in St. Ann, MO. Jim and Sue wedded in Overland, MO on June 3, 1964 and raised their three children James Terry Brown Jr (married to Christine Brown (Hagen)) Jeffrey Martin Brown (married to Amy Hull) and Christine Brown, in Saint Peters, MO. Jim was the eldest sibling to Linda Hackney (married to Joseph Hackney), Eileen Zlotopolski, Donald Brown (married to Joanne), the recently late Janet Brown-Wise (married to Dow), and Carol Greenberg. All surviving siblings remain in the Saint Louis area, and Jim died a recent great grandpa. Jim was a dedicated pharmacist for over 50 years. He attended Saint Louis College of Pharmacy and was a member Phi Delta Chi Fraternity. His father was a pharmacist and Jim proudly carried the family torch. Jim started his career in the family pharmacy. He then opened his own pharmacy with Sue in 1978 and they ran it together for 8 years. He continued working as a pharmacist at a local pharmacy, Standard Drug. He retired with Express Scripts in 2015. Jim was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing at Busch Wildlife in Weldon Spring and could frequently be spotted reeling in a crappie, blue gill or catfish. He taught his kids and grandchildren the finer points of fishing- etiquette, respect for what he caught, and the importance of not leaving a trace. Jim was also a recreational huntsman. He would slow down the car while driving past fields to point out turkey and deer hiding from Jim’s feared 12 gauge. Jim could frequently be found at the Meeting of the Two Rivers, where the Missouri and Mississippi River meet, bird watching and absorbing the power of nature. Jim was an attendee of All Saints Parish, where his wife still attends. There will be a Memorial Service on Friday, August 18, 2023, at All Saints Parish at 10:00am.
