Deborah Ann CANTILLO
December 29, 1954 - December 5, 2021
Obituary for Deborah Ann Cantillo (Sahl) With profound sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Deborah Ann Cantillo (Sahl), of O’Fallon, Missouri. She died on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at the age of 66. Deborah was born on December 29, 1954, in St. Louis, Missouri. She was the daughter of the late Georgette and Raymond Sahl, Sr. Loving mother of Heather Cantillo and Jennifer Esther Massey (Cantillo). Loving sister to Raymond Sahl, Jr. and sister in-law, Phyllis Sahl. Loving grandma to seven grandchildren: Rylan, Tysun, Dodger, Beckett, Wilder, Indie, and Navy. Deborah’s grandchildren brought her the greatest joy. She cherished every moment she had with them. She was devoted to her faith and while she was physically able- looked forward to attending regular church services. She often shared her love of Christ with everyone. Her beautiful spirit was always generous, nurturing, and loving. She had a smile for everyone and always a cheerful heart. She touched the lives of so many as she worked as a principal’s secretary at Fort Zumwalt West High for most of her life. She took great pleasure in making new friends regularly and frequently allowed the high school students to stop in her office during school hours. She would bring snacks for the students who didn’t have food. She was a helpful and earnest ear to those students who were having struggles and were looking for comfort. When students were sad, she cheered them with one of her famously cheesy jokes. She carried an open and welcoming heart to all. We are forever grateful for the light she brought to our lives. She will be incredibly missed by family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and the many students she befriended while working at the school. She was a blessing to all who knew her. Deborah was an avid reader, loved horses, and dreamed of owning a ranch. Although she always claimed she didn’t like sugar- she had quite the sweet tooth and enjoyed the occasional German chocolate cake. She started a support club for the military, making care packages to send overseas to the US ARMY. She was passionate about supporting veterans and the military. She also enjoyed working on genealogy and had been looking forward to a family reunion with all of her beloved cousins and relatives. She loved them deeply and yearned to see them desperately. Our beloved mother, grandma, sister, cousin, friend- may you be at peace with your loving mother and father. Our lives will not be the same without you, but we take comfort in the beautiful memories you gave us and knowing we will meet again. Deborah’s final wishes were to be cremated and placed in the homes of both of her daughters. There will be a short service on Thursday, December 16 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints- 1401 S. Henke Road, Lake St. Louis, MO 63367. Visitation is from 6:30pm-7pm. Church Service will begin at 7pm. Come and share your fondest memories of Deborah with all of us during an open speaking portion of the service.
