Born – February 16th, 1990 Born in St. Louis, Missouri Resided Cottleville, Missouri Benjamin James Cook age 31, was born on February 16th in 1990 to Ross Cook and Pamela Cook (Julius). He grew up in St. Charles, MO as the youngest of 2 children. Ben came into this world ready and raring to go. We knew once he picked up his first baseball bat that God had given him an extraordinary talent. But besides his athletic ability and love for sports, Ben had a gift of compassion and generosity. Ben would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need and he was there always for his friends, teammates, players he coached and especially his family. Ben was known to unselfishly give his time and talent to kids who loved the game of baseball as much as he did. He mentored kids and took them under his wing who maybe weren’t the best players but who had the HEART for baseball. Ben would nurture those kids behind the scenes empowering them to be the best that they could be not only on the ballfield but in the real world. He had the blessing and sometimes curse of being so passionate, caring, and sensitive. That at times could be consuming but he used this gift and baseball to push kids through the many heartaches of growing up in this world. Ben had this infectious smile, laugh and sense of humor. Oh…. how he would make us laugh! His love of the New York Yankees and love of music was only surpassed by love of his friends and family. He loved spending time with those he loved and was an amazing son, brother, brother-in-law, grandson, nephew, friend but especially Uncle Benny to his sweet nephew SJ. The world was a much better place with Ben in it. He was deeply loved by all that had the privilege of knowing him. He will be forever missed and will live in all of our hearts until we see him again in heaven. Ben’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, October 16th at 12 pm at North Road Community Church in St. Charles Mo. Family is requesting guests to wear baseball shirts, jerseys, hats etc….in memory of Ben’s love for the game. He wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Ben was survived by his parents Ross and Pam Cook; his sister Ashley Folkes (Ashley Cook); brother-in-law Sagarath Folkes; his grandmother Myra Julius; his nephew SJ Folkes; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins that loved him fiercely.
