William Dennis SILER

William Dennis Siler May 23, 1945 – May 13, 2019 Known to family and friends as Dennis. Dennis was born and raised in St. Louis, MO. As the second child to William Penn Marshall Preston and Margaret Emma Beins. Dennis was a typical kid growing up with his share of ups and downs. Through his school years, he played sports, was a boy scout continuing to become an Eagle scout, but it didn’t stop there. He joined the Explorers and studied telecommunication. After graduation in 1963 from Normandy High School, he went to work for McDonald Douglas; during his employment he joined the Gemini Space Program and worked on the capsule. After a few other jobs and the cable industry was beginning to grow, he the pursued what he always liked because of the telecommunication. He started as a lineman, then installer and worked his way up to instructor/inspector and project coordinator for the next 35 years until retiring. Through the years, Dennis was an avid and competitive sportsman – he would drive himself to be the best he could. He loved hunting and camping. He just loved life and enjoyed it all. Dennis was a people person, meaning he never met a stranger and befriended most everyone he met. He would help and give when someone was in need. Dennis married Roberta Eileen Millaway on August 22, 1964 and had two sons, William Matthew (Kim Kennard) and Jeffrey Allan (Jackie Tindle). Dennis was devoted to his sons and did what he could, sometimes working two jobs, so they could pursue their interests in sports and learning musical instruments. Dennis was his sons coach or manager in most sports and always involved but mostly he was their most loyal fan. Dennis had three grandsons; Dustin William Lee, Preston Lee Guage and Devin and one granddaughter, Shelbilin. These children were a new beginning and the love of his life. Dennis had one sibling preceding him in death: James William Siler. Dennis died on May 13, 2019 at BJC Hospital in St. Peters, MO. When his body could no longer compete with his mind set of survival. At his request, there will be a final farewell for immediate family only. “Remember me and memories as I once was.” Dennis was loved dearly and will be missed by many. Rest in peace and fly high with the Angels.
