Wayne Alvin MONKS

Wayne (Wayne-o, Daddy-o, Bro) Monks, 62, of St. Charles, Missouri, was born into eternal life on Sunday, March 8, 2015, at his home with his loving wife by his side. For the past 7 months, Wayne fought a courageous battle against kidney cancer. His faith and love for God and his family, gave him the strength to endure. Wayne was born September 26, 1952, in St. Louis. In 1962, his family moved to the St. Peters area, he was always proud to say, “I’m a St. Peters Boy since 1962.” He was the son of Gilbert and Hazel Monks. Wayne married Paula Bartos on November 12, 1995 in Miami, Florida aboard the Carnival Sensation Cruise Ship along with family and friends attending. The joy of his life were God, his 3 amazing children, his loving brother, 5 sweet grandchildren, 9 nieces and nephews, 1 great nephew, 7 father-brother-sister-in-laws, and 2 son-in-laws. Wayne was a unique individual, funny, positive, loving, giving, courageous, beautiful inside and out. He never met a stranger. He always took time to stop and listen to people to find out what their story was. He was genuinely interested. He touched many people with his sincerity and genuineness. His favorite way to get people to smile was to say, “My name is Wayne Monks, and no, I don’t have any kids named Chip…..but my middle name is Alvin.” Wayne’s favorite past time, undoubtedly, was spending time with his family. BBQ’ing pork stakes in the backyard for the family to enjoy was top on the list! He enjoyed weekly lunches with the boys, his brother Chris and best friend Bill as well as his Son, Chris. He loved going to the movies! He enjoyed riding his bike with his wife on the Katy Trail. Road tripping to Destin, Florida and Gulf Shores, Alabama. He received great joy watching other people get joy out of life, the simple things. Wayne poured all of his goodness into everything he did. Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Paula and his children Holly Manwaring (Kevin, Norah, Grayson, Juliana), Sara Monks (Brian, Grace and Henry), and Christopher Monks; his adoring brother Chris Monks (Debbie, Carter, Ethan), and father-sister-brother-in laws, Don Bartos, Mary Jenkins, (Jason, Jenny, James), Cheryl Bartos, Mike Bartos (Brendyn, Reese, Tanner), Doug Bartos, (Tracy, Abby, Bailey). Wayne will be truly missed, but we can be comforted that his spirit is watching over us. We can look forward to the day when we join him in our Heavenly Father’s house. In celebration of Wayne’s blessed life, the family will host a gathering at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 601 N. Fourth Street, Friday, March 13, 2015, 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. with a mass following from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
