SNOOK, Ellen

Mary Ellen Snook (nee Ridings), age 61, of Wright City, Missouri passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 13, 2011. She was born at the Firmin Desloge Hospital in St. Louis to Warren G. Ridings and Frances Louise Mullenix on October 5, 1949. Mary lived in Arkansas most of her young life and then graduated from Fort Zumwalt High School in 1967. She married Wayne Himmelsbach in January 1968 and had two daughters, Angela Marie and Sherri Lynn. She later married Arthur Snook, Sr. in May 1972 and resided in Valley Park, Missouri; Coal City, Illinois; Kokomo, Indiana and Grand Ledge, Michigan. Most of her career she was a waitress in the food service industry. She was co owner of North Seas Fish and Chips on Mary Street in Lansing, Michigan, for 13 years. After the death of her husband, Art, she moved to Wright City, Missouri in November 2001 to be near her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her beloved family: two daughters, Angela (David) Day, Wright City, Missouri; Sherri (James) Lesch, O’Fallon, Missouri; her stepmother Norma Ridings, St. Peters, Missouri; her siblings Warren G. (Ed) Ridings, Troy, Missouri; Carolyn (Theodore) Arellano, Kensett, Arkansas; James Allen Ridings, Monroe, Louisiana; Susie Ridings, St. Peters, Missouri, her first husband, Wayne Himmelsbach, St. Charles, Missouri; her grandchildren Alexander and Brenden Day, Christopher, Connie, Dylan, and Alexis Lesch and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Johnathan and Annie (nee Ausburn) Ridings; her father Warren G. Ridings, St. Peters, Missouri; her mother Frances Louise Mullenix, her brother Ricky Ridings, St. Peters, Missouri; and her husband Arthur A. Snook, Sr., Grand Ledge, Michigan. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 29, 2011 with visitation hours from 3-6:30 p.m. and a memorial service from 6:30-7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers/plants, donations may be made to the Women’s Crisis Center, St. Charles, Missouri, in care of Alternative Funeral & Cremation Services, 2115 Parkway Dr., St. Peters, MO 63376.
