Rosalie Ann BROOKSHIER

Rosalie Brookshier, of St. Charles, Missouri, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2023 at the age of 93. She was born to Henry and Therese (Zabel) Guenther on January 14, 1930. Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Pauline Vonnes; her husband, Charles Brookshier; her son, Mark Brookshier; and her son-in-law, Wayne Helton. She is survived by her daughter, Becky Helton; her son, Carl (Paula) Brookshier; her grandchildren, Tom (Annette) Helton, Carol (Jed) Klapat, Heather Helton, and Chris Brookshier; and her great-grandchildren, Olivia Helton and Evelyn Klapat. Rosalie lived her early life on farms in Iowa and Nebraska. She particularly loved school and running – in fields, woods, wherever. She attended a country primary school as the only girl most of the time, and she met Charles Brookshier, her future husband, in high school. They were married in 1949 and raised 3 children. Rosalie worked as a secretary and bookkeeper during much of her adult life, and in 1976, she and Charles bought the Bob Keller Battery Warehouse in St. Louis. They retired from the warehouse after approximately 30 years. Rosalie enjoyed traveling, and she and Charles took many trips throughout the United States and abroad. They danced for many years, played bridge and other card games for even more years, and volunteered at FISH of St. Charles in retirement. They rehabbed a weekend lake house, where they boated and fished. She sewed many of the children’s clothes, costumes, and gifts, and later made beautiful quilts. They both worked very hard, but also managed to find time to enjoy friends and each other. When Charles passed away in 2015, Rosalie was devastated but determined to find purpose and enjoyment in family, friends, and church. It’s evident Rosalie had great faith in God and a wonderful love for her family and others. She showed this love in practical ways, being active in her churches’ women’s groups, choir, Quilters, 55ers, and volunteer work. She made dinner-to-order for nearly every family birthday. She sang hymns to her kids at bedtime and taught them about God. She baked beautiful and delicious Christmas cookies, and doted on her grandchildren. We have never doubted her love for us! Visitation will be held at Faith United Methodist Church (2950 Droste Rd., St. Charles, MO) at 10 a.m. on March 4, followed by her Memorial Service at 11.
