Scott, Robert Oliver, II Bob Scott died on Saturday, March 21, 2015, age 86, at his home in Kirkwood, Missouri. The son of R. “Oliver” Scott and Lydia Schaefer Scott, he was born in Granite City, Illinois in October 1928 and moved to Missouri after 1940. Right after graduating from University City High School, when he was 17, Bob enlisted in the Army Air Corps in August 1946 and served in the Pacific theater until September 1948. He re-enlisted in July 1950 and served in the Korean War and was eventually released when he got malaria, after his honorable discharge in August 1952, he returned to St. Louis. He always loved flying and piloted his own planes later in life. Bob earned a degree in art at Washington University. At that time, he worked at the St. Louis Art Museum restoring oil paintings; he was a talented painter. Bob was a proud member of SAE fraternity on campus and wrestled on the college team. After graduation he started working in the advertising business and earned a master’s degree in business from Washington U. He owned and operated Winfield Advertising Company in Clayton and was a member of the Clayton Rotary for many years. He sold this agency, known for creating jingles and logos for businesses such as Nantucket Cove . A natural athlete, Bob enjoyed many sports including golf, snorkeling and hunting; he played tennis with friends for over 30 years at the MAC. He was a skillful boater, enjoying fishing trips in the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. He sponsored and coached Ladue Little League baseball team. Later Bob was vice-president of Sayers Printing Company and became a real estate developer. In retirement he joined his wife Sally, after their marriage in Haiti, as direct importers of European antiques and operated several locations in the St Louis Area. Their many trips to Europe gave him the opportunity to visit the Spohr Museum (dedicated to his mother’s ancestor, the violinist, conductor and composer Louis Spohr, who invented the violin chin-rest and the conductor’s baton) in Kassel, Germany, to travel to many favorite places and enjoy boating in the Mediterranean Sea. A lifelong learner, he earned a Ph.D. in business at the age of 70. It was a cerebral hemorrhage that finally slowed him down and eventually caused his death. Bob and Sally had been together for 39 years. He will be buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. His survivors include his wife Sally (Kuper) Scott, son Robert O. Scott, III and daughter Suzanne of St. Louis; daughter Kim Scott of Fredericktown, MO; daughter Valerie Albrecht Scott of Boston, MA; and 3 daughters from his first marriage-Nola, Wendy and Linda and sister Suzanne Scott Millard. Services for Mr. Scott will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 2:00 P.M at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Rd, St. Louis, MO.
