Philip Michael SCHEMPF

Philip was born to Michael and Karen (nee Wakeland) Schempf on May 28, 1985 in Plymouth, Indiana. He was born again in his baptism into Christ June 9, 1985 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Culver, Indiana. In 1999, he confirmed his faith at Faith Lutheran Church in Watertown, Wisconsin. Survivors include Philip’s parents, Mike and Karen, his maternal grandfather, Max Wakeland, siblings Andrew (Linda) Schempf, Sarah (Robert) Bernhardt, Christina Schempf as well as three nephews, Theodore, Emerson and Declan Schempf, one niece, Zipporah Bernhardt and a number of loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Philip spent his childhood in Tawas City and Saginaw, Michigan and Watertown, Wisconsin. He graduated from Watertown High School in 2003. He graduated from Ferris State University in 2009 with a degree in Welding Engineering Technology. He enjoyed his work at Northrup Gruman in Virginia, Oldenburg Group in Rhinelander, Wisconsin and most recently Mechanical Dynamics & Analysis of St Louis, Missouri. He was a gifted teacher and enjoyed coaching others in his field. In his free time, Philip enjoyed a wide range of interests including hunting, fishing, mechanics, playing the banjo, violin, various stringed instruments and boating the Mississippi in “Moby Dick” his vintage cabin cruiser. He was lifelong learner and always had many “fun facts to know and tell”. He had a memorable sense of humor and often entertained his family. After a tough battle with alcohol, Philip is home safe with Jesus. His parents, siblings and extended family are grateful that Philip clearly affirmed his faith in his Savior and the power of His death and resurrection.
