Mabel GALLO

Mabel Gallo, 102, of St Charles, MO passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at her home with her daughter by her side. She was born on August 8, 1922, in Indiana, Pennsylvania to James and Martha Blatt (nee Conrad). On February 8, 1941, she married Samuel Gallo in Ernest, Pennsylvania; he preceded her in death on September 23, 1982. Mabel was a devoted Catholic and was a member of St Cletus Catholic Church, St Charles, MO. Mabel owned 2 beauty shop and a restaurant in Detroit, Michigan. When she relocated to Long Beach, California she worked at Park Pantry and moved to Garden Grove, California and worked at Pinnacle Peak Restaurant as a waitress and bar tender, also attended Cerritos College and got her BA degree. When she moved to St Charles, Missouri she worked at Red Lobster and retired from there. She then worked part time for Null Elementary school in the cafeteria until she was 87 years old. Mabel loved watching wrestling, reading books, crocheting, working outside in her flower beds, babysitting friends’ children as well as baking. Her pride and joy were all of her grandchildren and spending time with her family and friends. She had such a big heart and always put her family first. Mabel is survived by her daughter Regina Benskin of St Charles, MO as well as grandchildren Dawn Benskin of St Charles, MO, Bambi (Rick) Kurwicki of Alhambra, IL, Jason Benskin of St Charles, MO, Theo Gallo and Aaron Gallo of California, Sam "Yogi" Gallo III of Florida, Nate (Jane) Gallo of Arizona, Tony Gallo, Shawn (Katrina) Gallo, John (Samantha) Gallo, Daymen (Christine) Gallo all of South Dakota and Tonya Singleton and Michael Fisher of Alabama and many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, as well as extended family who loved her dearly. She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband Samuel Gallo, 3 sons James Gallo, Samuel Gallo Jr and Ted "Teddy" Gallo, as well as her 7 sisters and brothers and her great grandson Robert “Robbie” Benskin. Arrangements are in care of Alternative Funeral and Cremation in St Peters, MO where she will be cremated. The family is currently working on a date and time for a memorial service/celebration of life.
