Lonnie Dean McCoy

Lonnie Dean McCoy, 69 (go figure), of Foristell, Missouri passed away on November 7th, proving that the saying “only the good die young” is not a hard and fast fact. It will not be what many had previously believed, that at the end of the world only the cockroaches and Lonnie would be left standing amongst the rubble. Lonnie was born in 1953 in St. Charles Missouri to mother Darlene March and some loser named Larry (later to be replaced by actual dad Richard March). He had two brothers and three sisters. Lonnie hit the jackpot when he married his wife, Denise McCoy, who preceded him in death and was surely waiting on the other side to 1) kick his ass and 2) make sure he was okay and make him something to eat. Together, they had three daughters: Melissa (bossy), Mindy (mean), and Marci (ditzy). Lonnie had six grandchildren as well. Lonnie lived unapologetically his own way. He had two big passions in life: fishing and music. He was patient in fishing, simply enjoying the sport for what it was. He was fun, passionate, and very competitive. But regardless if he caught fish or not, he always had a blast. You could find him on any lake, in his bass boat with his fishing partner, his brother-in-law (also his brother-in-heart), Greg Jones. Anyone that really knew Lonnie knew how much he loved music, and that any other genre besides his beloved classic rock could never compare. The music consumed him. You felt it when he forced you to listen to an entire song, volume on full blast, entirely certain the music would stir your soul the way it moved his own. He was a dreamer at heart. Life was an adventure with Lonnie, no matter where you were or what you were doing. There will never be another like him and he will be so missed. In lieu of flowers, live a day like Lonnie - Fish for hours. Listen to music so loud it hurts your ears. Leave the house without checking your reflection or caring what anyone thinks. Lose your phone. Let your hair go wild. Go build something. Come up with a hair brained idea and go for it. Act without any hesitation. A celebration of life is planned November 26th, 2022 at Laborers Local 660 Hall in St. Charles, MO. Details to be provided later.
