Larry Jean Kuhlman

Larry Jean Kuhlman, age 87, of Chesterfield, Missouri went home to the Lord on Sunday, November 17th, 2024. He was born February 8th, 1937, in Carpenter, Iowa. Loving son of the late Charles and Linda Kuhlman. Larry graduated with a degree in engineering from Iowa State University. He then spent the remainder of his working life traveling the world designing, repairing and building boilers and incinerators. Larry married the love of his life and best friend Marlene Kuhlman (nee Edwards) on June 23rd, 1962. They shared 62 years of wonderful marriage, building an amazing life and wonderful family. They went on many adventures and greatly enjoyed sightseeing when traveling for his job and on family vacations. Larry is survived by his loving son and daughter-in-law Ken and Janey Kuhlman, his dear grandchildren Billy, Kevin and Landon, his wonderful great grandchildren Vanessa, Brooklynn, Hollis, and Raelynn, his siblings Clare (Sandy) Kuhlman and Bonnie Rutten, nieces, nephews, cousins, his great friends and wonderful neighbors. My dad was truly the most amazing and wonderful man, father, husband and friend. He was always there with a helping hand to anyone in need. He supported me and his family through thick and thin, good times and bad, never wavering in his love. He was lighthearted and had a great and sometimes dry sense of humor, he was always joking around and trying to make others laugh. My dad was always running around the neighborhood helping everyone and fixing everything he could. At the beginning of his career, Larry worked for B & W starting up and working on boilers for about ten years. He then moved to St. Louis and worked for Monsanto in the utility's department, working on all things mechanical. He spent the better part of the next 30 years traveling the country starting up and working on boilers. Working at Monsanto, he developed a tight group of life-long friends. One of the group's did yearly fishing trips which Larry enjoyed greatly. Another bunch of them went floating, camping and many other adventures before and after retiring. Special thanks to those groups for all the fun we had over those many years. I would also like to thank St. Luke’s Hospice for their care and support in the end. Most of all to his wonderful neighbors Gene and Vicky, Julia and Jim for all the help you have given us over the last couple of years, truly the best of people. Larry will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Rest in peace Dad. There will be a Visitation at Manchester United Methodist Church (in the Chapel) on Friday, November 22nd, 2024, from 10am to 12pm, with a Service at 12pm. Committal service will be immediately following at the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Manchester United Methodist Church.
