Kenneth John LUDWIG

Kenneth John Ludwig passed away at the age of 71 years at his home in Moscow Mills, MO, on June 12, 2022. Born the son of Frank and Mary Ludwig in St. Louis, MO, on September 15, 1950, he is survived and beloved by his brother Michael Ludwig and wife Ann Tully, sister Mary Green and husband Fred Green, niece Kathy Gordick and husband Joe Gordick, nephew Fred Green, cousins Pat DeLeon and husband Ronnie DeLeon, Kathy Kotenko, and Carla Thorpe and husband Tim Thorpe. Kenny Ludwig was a hard-working and responsible man. In 1969, he trained at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo, and served in a U. S. Army tank corps in Korea. After that he worked in a variety of jobs, finally retiring in 2015 from the Lake St. Louis Public Works Department. Throughout his life Kenny pursued a number of artistic interests including performing as guitarist, singer, and song writer, first with the Little Hills String Band and later with his brother Michael in 1975-1980 in Ozark Renaissance. In casual situations as around a campfire amongst friends, Kenny was an amazing and natural born entertainer! He wrote both sentimental and humorous songs – “Bright Light” among the first type and “I’ve Got Underwear Older Than You” being one of the latter! He was creative, sensitive, and funny with a big, warm presence. Multiply talented, Kenny also enjoyed both drawing and photography, capturing interesting and artful images with his good eye for such and skill in doing so. Upon his retirement, creating his own forge he converted his garage into a blacksmith shop, skillfully producing both practical and artistic objects. In addition to his artistic interests, Kenny was a serious cat lover. He took in many a feral cat and gained devoted feline friends who were very important to him. Kenny could be a gruff, stubborn, argumentative character, but in essence he was a sweet, kind, funny, generous teddy bear. He was supportive of family and ready to help whether with plumbing or household issues or talking and listening. Kenneth John Ludwig was a very special individual with so many wonderful traits despite his demons, which he had. He lived life hard but well and will be missed and remembered by those whose lives he touched. May he rest in peace – he has earned that.
