June Catherine WAGONER

June Catherine (Sheeran) Wagoner June was born July 20, 1928 – the same year as Mickey Mouse, a fact she was very proud of all her life. She grew up in North St. Louis, and lived all of her 85 years in St. Louis. After graduating from Beaumont High School in 1946 she went to work at Con P Curran Printing Company where she met her loving husband, Norm. They were married on January 27, 1951 and enjoyed a wonderful life together for 37 years before Norm passed away in 1988. She was mother to 5 children, Steve (Sonny), Mark (Mary Jo), Gale, Tammy, and Scott (Emily), grandmother to Jason (Abbey), Sam (Traci), Angie (Chad), James (Abby), Tim, Greg (Heather), Jeff, Brittany, and Tyler, and great grandmother (Memaw) to Daylen, Brenna, Connor, Aubrey, Marshall, Max, Lila, Tucker and Avrianne. June was a friend to many including the Vivikis, the High Heels, the members of Friedens Chapel and St. John’s, and many groups she played games with over the years, both on fields and courts and on the table! She and Norm were driving forces in Surrey Lane Athletic Association, and the Northside Youth Association where their kids spent many happy hours participating in a variety of sports. The kids learned, at an early age, how to count money for the concession stands, and rules of the sports they played and officiated. While driving a school bus for Riverview Gardens School District for many years, June demanded and received the respect of almost all the children that rode those busses. Many of her passengers remember her to this day. She loved to travel and enjoyed many wonderful trips with friends and family including trips to Alaska, Hawaii, England and Ireland. When she was home, she was always busy volunteering her time with Oasis, Valley Industries and other organizations and working as an usher for the St. Louis Symphony. Tuesday dinners at her house were full of family, and will be greatly missed by those that attended every week. They were only one way she kept our family close. She also made sure we always had very special holiday celebrations. She especially loved hiding Easter eggs for all the kids, giving Christmas ornaments that were significant to what was happening during that time of everyone’s lives and celebrating everyone’s birthdays. She was determined to stay with us long enough to meet her youngest great grandson and celebrate Christmas with her family. When she met Tucker her face lit up like Times Square! She was able to celebrate an early Christmas with her entire family. Everyone laughed and enjoyed the special gifts she had chosen. No one who was there will ever forget Lila’s face when she opened her Dora jammies, Tucker playing with his very own flashlight, and Daylen’s excitement with his Cardinal sweatshirt. The next morning, having accomplished her final goals, she joined her beloved Norm and siblings in Heaven on December 17, 2013. The Wagoner family would like to express our very heartfelt appreciation to mom’s amazing, very special friend, Joan Huntebrinker, who took such wonderful care our mother, grandmother and great grandmother during her last few months. Mom was very comfortable and so loved staying with Joan. We can never repay her kindness. Our family will never be the same, but we will all have wonderful memories to cling to in this time of her passing. We know she and Dad are together again and that gives us comfort. A memorial service for June will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, December 20th, in the sanctuary at St. John's United Church of Christ, 945 Wolfrum Road, Weldon Spring, Missouri with visitation from 5-7 p.m. at the church.
