Joyce Ann KARNES

Joyce Ann Karnes, (83ish), was called home on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 after a long fulfilling life without a second of silence. Joyce was either born in 1936 or 1937… it is still a mystery today. She was the first child of three for Bud and Alma Karnes and was born in Senath, Missouri. She belonged to the class of 1956 at Senath High School in Senath, Missouri. Joyce went into accounting, living in Houston and Milwaukee and, finally, coming home to St. Louis. A proponent of charity, she was once an employee at Catholic Charities of St. Louis, where she eventually met and fell in love with her partner, Jim Daley. Their connection was inspiring to all of those that met them and their holiday celebrations in the basement were things of VHS legend. Joyce was a collector of souls; anyone who needed a family became hers. The pride and love she felt for her friends propelled countless souls forward. Her diverse love of dogs was indicative of her personality. Tiny Wiener dogs and large, sometimes terrible-mannered, chubby Shar-pei’s were her favorite. Joyce had many hobbies; she loved to shop for others (as long as she knew you “really really liked it”), talk on the phone, have long lunches with friends, watch her neighbors, and feed the squirrels. She loved to hear about your day and talk about hers. Joyce was one of the rare souls in this world that genuinely cared to hear about how you felt. Joyce is preceded in death by both of her parents, Bud and Alma Karnes. She is missed by her two brothers: Denny and Kenny Karnes, sister in law Carolyn Karnes, her nieces and nephews Susan and Dan Jaeger, Mitch and Samantha Karnes, and Tracye Cobourn, great nieces and nephews, Dustin and Megan Bailey, Dan Cobourn, and Kate Cobourn, cousins Jan Thompson, Zak and Charla Thompson and other life-long friends, Diane Fields and Ceola Davis. “It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn’t go alone.
