James Marcus BRUSH

James Marcus Brush (Jim) of St. Peters, Missouri passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake St. Louis at the age of 87. Jim was born in St. Charles, Missouri on March 05, 1935, to Anton and Ida Brush (nee Honerkamp). He and his wife Juanita Marie Brush (nee Stepp) were married on December 31, 1965 and would have celebrated their 57th anniversary this New Year’s Eve. Jim’s childhood was spent in Portage des Sioux and St. Charles, Missouri where he attended St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and School. He enjoyed many adventures growing up in a small river town including setting sail in a dresser drawer boat into floodwaters and getting stranded on an island. He served honorably in the United States Army and was stationed in Frankfort, Germany, where he was responsible for the repair and maintenance of military vehicles. His mechanical aptitude served him well, both at home and his career at Didion. He created a piece of equipment he named “The Mean Machine” for his personal use that is still going strong some 50 years later. He retired from Didion in 2000. Jim enjoyed bluegrass music, and he and Juanita attended many music festivals, especially after retirement. He was a talented woodworker and created many beautiful pieces of furniture as well as duck decoys and other decorative items that are family treasures. He built a home for his family on what was a small 2 lane country road in 1965 and did much of the work himself with the help of family and friends. He had no idea that Mexico Road would be a multilane major roadway today, and that the house he built would be somewhat of a local landmark. Jim was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Ann Spann, his parents, Anton and Ida, and his siblings. Antoinette “Toni” George, Michael, John, and Raymond Brush, and Susan Dillon. He is survived by his wife Juanita “Nita”, his children, Denise (Scott) Woodliff, and Matthew, Craig, and Colleen Brush, his grandchildren, Danielle (Kevin) Tripp, Kaitlyn (Colton) Madelone, William Woodliff, James (Jamie) Woodliff, Alex Woodliff, Katherine “Grace”” (Sam) Johnston, Olivia “Belle” Green, Ryan (Shelby) Woodliff, Sophia Woodliff, Carlie Spann, Benjamin Woodliff, and John Riley Spann, and his great grandchildren; Annabelle, Norah, and Levi Tripp, Henry Green, and James Woodliff, and by his sister Judith "Judy" Isaac and his half sister Rosina Brush. A funeral mass will be held at All Saints Church in St. Peters, Missouri in the near future.
