Henri “Andre” Bohnen July 25, 1940 – July 18, 2024 It is with sadness that I share the passing of my father, Henri “ANDRE” Bohnen, who left us on July 18, 2024, at the age of 83. Surrounded by his loving family in his final moments, he was a man of subtle humor and wisdom, cherishing conversation with family and friends. Born in 1940 in the Netherlands, Andre became a sailor as a young man for the Dutch Merchant Marines. He sailed much of the globe and enjoyed telling his story of swimming in the Suez Canal. Andre immigrated to the United States in 1970 with his then wife and children. He held a variety of jobs before discovering his love of working with horses around the age of 40. He then spent the next four decades in various roles of training, boarding and shoeing horses. Andre received his education and certification as a farrier from Penn State University. His passion and focus were diagnosing and treating horses that were in pain from hoof or back injury. Andre was preceded in death by Father Hermanus, Mother, Johanna and Sister Yvonne Bohnen. He is survived by his daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren and niece. Miranda Ickler, (Donald Ickler) Justin Bayne, (Susy Bayne), Joseph Bayne, (Fiancée Miranda Zimmerman), Kayla Bayne Betonio, (Jeffrey Betonio) and niece Anneka Bohnen, who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest. We invite you to attend a celebration of his life on Friday August 2, 2024, from 11AM-1PM at the Villages of St. Peters, 5400 Executive Centre Parkway, St. Peters, MO 63376. Andre’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all the staff at the Villages of St. Peters.
