Frank Stanley KOCHIN

Frank Kochin, 72 years of age, born on October 5, 1951 passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 2, 2024. Frank was born in Carnegie, PA to Frank and Dolores (Jesiolkiewic) Kochin. He is the eldest of seven siblings: Stanley (Carol) Kochin, the late Dr. Deborah Handerhan, Dr. Edward (Karen Ulanowski) Kochin, the late William Kochin, Nancy (Tim) Baker, Becky Hommrich, and Kathy Kochin. Frank married Elizabeth (Brischetto) in 1988. Together they have two children, daughter Kalynn (Derek) Kniptash and son William (Alyssa) Kochin and two grandchildren,Grady and Grace Kniptash. Frank grew up on Seventh Avenue in Carnegie, PA, his father’s childhood home. He had a strong work ethic starting at age 11. He helped support his family after his father’s early death and continued through the years. Frank played football as a tight end at Iowa Wesleyan where he met his future wife. He would later graduate as a Hawkeye from the University of Iowa. Frank was married to his best friend for 35 years after meeting in college 18 years prior to engagement. Through their 53 years together, they raised their two children Kalynn (34) and William (31) in beautiful Webster Groves, Missouri. Frank enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, including sports, raising pigeons, bowling, woodworking projects, and his “Honey Do” list. However, his favorite pastime was and always will be PIGEONS. Since he was a young boy he has been raising and racing pigeons. This is a hobby passed down from his grandfather. Frank and his brother, Stan, carried on the tradition and did fairly well over the years. They have a very good pedigree of birds thanks to the Polish Hen. Frank was a contract engineer for many years. Traveling around the country and working 14-hour shifts for 18-month contracts. His work and life finally led him to University of Missouri-St Louis where he was the Director of Facility Services. He worked and retired there after 17 years of service. His employees shared that he was a very understanding, loyal, and caring boss. His favorite part of retirement was being easily accessible to his two precious grandchildren. Frank loved when the kids would spend the night at Pap Pap and Nonina’s and enjoyed spending weekends in Boonville at Kalynn and Derek’s Home. His memory will be passed down to his future grandchildren thanks to those who loved and knew him. We will forever cherish the time we spent with our Frank: husband, father, brother, Pap Pap, coach, boss, neighbor, cousin, teammate, hunting partner, uncle, drinking buddy, problem solver, and friend.
