FANNO, Judith

Judith Ann Fanno (Judy) age 56, of St. Charles, MO died on October 02, 2011 at St. Joseph Health Center, St. Charles, MO, surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 14, 1955 in Beatrice, Nebraska to Gerhardt Schroeder and Bernita Mayfield, nee Riggert, baptized and confirmed in Odell, Nebraska. She attended Hanover Kansas High School where she graduated in 1973. After high school, Judy served in the Army from November 1974 to October 1980. The army allowed Judy to travel all over the world. She also worked at the Pentagon as a Communications Security Specialist. Judy was very proud of her service to her country. After leaving the Army, Judy worked a tmany different and interesting jobs. She was a dispatcher for awhile and her last job was a night auditor at LaQuinta Hotels. Judy was stricken with diabetes which slowly took over her daily life. Judy lost her leg to diabetes but continued to fight the disease with everything she had. Judy was lucky enough to meet the love of her life, Steve Shortland, who remained at her side through all her ups and downs until her last breath. They truly had a special love. Judy is survived by her loving mother, Bernita Mayfield of St. Charles, MO, her sisters Joyce Schroeder of St. Charles, MO, Barb and her husband Mike Sovinski of Bonfield, IL, Cathy and her husband Mike Reel of Wright City, MO, Linda Jean Carnifix of Littleton, Colorado, brothers Robert (Bob) Schroeder of Batavia, New York and Tony Pollard of O'Fallon, MO. Several nephews and nieces and beautiful grandchildren whom she loved dearly and many friends. Judy was preceded into death by her father Gerhardt Schroeder, her step-father Dallas Mayfield Sr. and one step-brother Dallas Mayfield Jr. Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, October 06, 2011 at 10 A.M at Good Shepherd United Church of Christ with a time of felloweship following the service. In lieu of flowers, family and friends who whish to honor Judy's memory may contribute to the Wounded Warriors Foundation in care of Alternative Funeral and Cremation Services, 2115 Parkway Drive St. Peters, MO 63376 Burial will follow at a later date in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
