Edward Richard HARTMAN

Edward (Ed) Richard Hartman, age 91, passed away on November 18, 2025. Ed is survived by his wife of 25 years, Mary (Malone) Hartman, his son Jordan (Jessica) Hartman, daughter Dinah (John) Coleman, grandchildren Ayden, Daniel, Tristin, and Ashton and nine nieces and nephews. Edward was the youngest of five children, and he is predeceased by his four siblings: brothers Robert G., William A., and Paul J., his sister Marian Briggs and son David. He is also predeceased by his parents, William C. and Mathilda (Mages) Hartman. Ed was born in Reading OH and he grew up working in the Hartman family grocery store while attending Reading High School. He had a lifelong love of science and passion for photography. He later graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Chemical Engineering. After graduation he moved to Pensacola, Florida working for many years at Monsanto Corporation while honorably serving in the U.S. Naval Reserves. Ed’s work with Monsanto took his to many parts of the country including South Carolina, New Jersey, and ultimately St. Louis. It was in St. Louis that Ed finally met the love of his life Mary Malone. In 2000 they were married. Ed and Mary enjoyed many wonderful years together filling the open doors of their home with friends and family. Their annual Christmas party was a much-anticipated event of the holiday season where their many family members, neighbors, and co-workers would gather together in celebration. Nearly every summer their extended family would vacation together on the beach in Pensacola, Florida, a place Ed dearly loved from his early working days at Monsanto. Ed was a beautiful, happy and loving man with a gentle sense of humor. He was notoriously frugal with himself and graciously generous with others, never hesitating to lend a helping hand. He and Mary gave magnanimously to nieces, nephews, and other family members, in their times of need. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, November 21st, at the Holy Spirit Parish Catholic Church in Maryland Heights where Ed was an active long-time parishioner. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mt. Grace Convent of the Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters.
