Donald Richard FULLER

Donald Richard Fuller, born May 23, 1931, passed away peacefully at home October 5, 2015. Husband to Arlene (Dode) Fuller, deceased 2005. Father of six: Lynne (Fuller) Williams, Stephen Fuller, Kathy (Fuller) Wilmesherr, Janet (Fuller) Barrow, Donald Edward Fuller (deceased) and Terri (Fuller) Shea. Grandfather of thirteen, and Great Grandfather of ten. A ten-year, full-time caretaker of his wife, Arlene, as she experienced all of the impacts of Alzheimer’s and a father who demonstrated a deep commitment to supporting his six children over many years as they attained their life achievements and dreams. Proud card-carrying member and Union Vice President of Local 18 – Tile, Marble, and Terrazzo Workers/Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers. Retiring after attaining a 50-year, life membership in 2004. Don served as an International Masonry Institute (IMI) Apprentice Program Coordinator and Instructor who, beginning in 1976, built a highly respected Apprentice Training Program for the Midwest. Don served on the Arbitration Board for over 25 years and was active in held positions as a both a founding Member and Trustee on both the Health and Welfare Plan and Pension Plan Boards. Don began his career with the Tile Finishers in 1950, completing his apprenticeship as a Tile Setter in 1954. He served as a frequent speaker and instructor at national and international training events. Don’s professional work stands as a series of monuments to the trade. His work can been seen today in the lobby of the Missouri Historical Society, the St. Louis Center, McDonald Douglas World Headquarters (now Boeing), Mercy Hospital Chapel, the Federal Records Center, and the West County Center. He pioneered and patented the first back-buttering tile machine. His many achievements have been widely recognized with numerous accolades and awards by employers, peers, and customers. Don Fuller will be missed not only by his family, but by those who knew and worked with him over the many years of his professional career. A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, October 17, 2015, 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Alternative Funeral and Cremation Services, 2115 Parkway Drive, St. Peters, MO 63376. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association are preferred.
