Claudia Jean TREBELHORN

On a beautiful late summer morning, the angels rejoiced when Claudia Jean Trebelhorn, age 67, came home to live forever with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. With her loving husband by her side, she departed this life on August 30, 2016 from her home in Chesterfield, MO. Claudia Jean (Joyce) Trebelhorn was born in Independence, Missouri, on January 3, 1949 to Wayne and Elnora (Taylor) Joyce. At a young age her family moved to Red Oak, Iowa, where she spent her growing up years. During her senior year of high school, Claudia made a weekend trip to Ames, Iowa where she met the man who would be the love of her life, Richard Trebelhorn. On New Year’s Eve day of 1968, Claudia was awarded her wings as a flight attendant for Trans World Airlines. On November 27, 1970, she and Rich were married in Red Oak. After flying out of Kansas City and Chicago with TWA she left the airline to follow her husband to Laredo AFB, Texas. While living in Laredo she earned her Private Pilot License. After six moves in four years and numerous jobs, they settled into their first home in Crystal Lake, IL. There they celebrated the birth of their two children, Angela and Bryan. Time passed and along the way came moves to Lake St. Louis, Fulton, the Central West End in St. Louis, and finally to Chesterfield, all in Missouri. Richard’s job often took him away from home for extended periods of time during which Claudia’s organization, independence, and laughter kept the family running smoothly. Claudia loved being a wife and mother and saw her calling as a blessing from God…even when she found herself feeding the horses and cattle in the snow while Rich traveled. She loved her Lord Jesus. She loved her husband. She loved her children and enjoyed time with them. Claudia relished each grandchild’s arrival and loved each individually. She loved her local church, St. Louis Family Church. Claudia loved to laugh and serve others. She loved her horses. In the eyes of those who knew her well, she was a true example of a Proverbs 31 woman. Her children rise up and bless her; Her husband also, and he praises her, saying: “Many daughters have done nobly, but you excel them all.” Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Proverbs 31: 28-30. Her father, Wayne Joyce, and her brother-in-law, Donald Farber, preceded Claudia to heaven. She is survived by her husband Richard, daughter Angela Markovich and her husband Stan, son Bryan and his wife Jennie, 4 grandchildren; Caitlyn, Dalton, Mia, and Eli, mother Elnora Joyce, brother Terry Joyce and his wife Teresa, brother-in-law Tom Trebelhorn and his wife Mary Kay, sister-in-law Debi Farber, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
