Charles William HUELS

Charles (Chuck) William Huels, age 82 of Lake St. Louis, MO was called to our Heavenly Lord, on Wednesday, March 31, 2021. He was born in Chicago, IL on August 11, 1938. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Helen Huels, his siblings; Jackie, Jimmy, and Tom; Sister-in-Law Marion Huels, wife of Bill Huels; and his nephew Mark Huels, son of Jimmy Huels. He is survived by his beloved wife; Agnes, his brothers; Bill Huels, Pat and wife Mary Huels ; Sister-in-Laws Donna Mulderink, Margaret Huels wife to Tom Huels; nine children; Laura Hitt and husband Michael, Chuck Huels and wife Katrina, Joe Huels and wife Cheryl, Ed Huels and wife Christy, Jenny Hickson and husband Mike, Rob Biermann and wife Michelle, Jennifer Heinz and Rob Callahan, Tara Behymer and husband Ryan, Kurtis Huels and Fiancé Danielle First; his 26 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 35 nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. Chuck served in the United States Marine Corp from 1956-1960, where he was stationed at Camp Pendleton. He was known by many to be an entrepreneur and pursued many career opportunities as an owner of a gas-station/mechanic shop, bar, ice-cream parlor, and trucking company. He followed his father’s career path in the trucking industry and retired from Consolidated Freightways where he worked as an over the road truck driver for 24 years, receiving multiple Million Mile awards for safe driving. Chuck never really retired as he spent time remodeling his home and helping with homes of other family members, working on his cars, restoring classic wooden boats, and completing the many honey-do lists from Agnes and his family. One of his biggest projects was the remodel on Aggie’s Tearoom, a successful business Agnes owned and operated for 10 years in O’Fallon, MO. Married for 43 years, Chuck and Agnes have shared in many of life’s ups and downs, good health, illness, happiness, and most of all a life filled with love. They enjoyed traveling to see their children and grandchildren in Florida, Georgia, and Kansas, boating, walking their dog Pebbles, riding around and traveling in their MINI-Cooper, entertaining their grandchildren, dancing, attending the family reunions in Lake of the Ozarks, and just spending time with each other. There was never a dull moment, weekend, or holiday given the size of his family. Chuck and Agnes hosted virtually all of the family’s holiday gatherings, birthdays, graduations, achievement celebrations, and anything else that meant he was able to spend time with the ones he loved. These gatherings always ensured we would enjoy a few games of ping pong, music from an old jukebox, one of his many hobby collections, a good glass of scotch and the many stories that were always entertaining. Chuck’s “I can fix that” attitude, an eagerness to take on any project , and then his willingness to work hard to accomplish the task was contagious to everyone around him and set an example that most certainly contributed to the many successes of his children, grandchildren and anyone that knew him that might be scared to pick up a hammer and do it themselves. Residing in Lake St. Louis offered him many opportunities to relax and enjoy many of his hobbies. He spent much of his time boating around the lake, listening to live music at the club house, and relaxing with his dear friends Rich and Pat Rudloff, Don and Kay Dilly, Brynn, and many other close neighbors. On most Tuesday evenings, you would often find Chuck with the “Ole’ Boys Boat Club” where he was a member of the Antique and Classic Boat Society; Mississippi Valley Chapter. He loved restoring classic boats with chapter friends, attending boat shows, and many other classic boat events. Family and Friends are invited to attend the visitation and memorial mass for Charles Huels on April 22, 2021 at Assumption Catholic Church in O’Fallon, MO : 403 N Main St, O'Fallon, MO 63366 . Visitation 12:00-1:00pm, Funeral Mass 1:00-2:00pm. In addition, or for those that are unable to attend the funeral mass, there will be a Celebration of Life Gathering at the Lake St. Louis Community Association, 100 Cognac Ct, Lake St Louis, MO 63367 from 4:00 PM -8:00 PM. Charles Huels will be buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO on April 23, 2021 Flowers and condolences may be sent to the Family. Should family and friends desire, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Jude in memory of Charles Huels.
