Carol Jean SANCHEZ

Carol Jean Sanchez (64), mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and best potato salad maker- transitioned to Paradise Saturday, June 15th at Windsor Estates in Saint Charles, MO. Born Carol Jean Nelson October 18th, 1959 to the late William and Dorothy (Herriman) Nelson. She is survived by her children Monica (Maurice) Lanham of Saint Peters, Carrie (Gary) Myers-Russell of Foristell, MO, Chad (Heather) Elston of Saint Charles, MO, and Leon "Boo" (Cassidy) Hicks of Saint Charles, MO. In addition to her loved and beloved grandchildren Raven Jones of Saint Charles, MO, Asia (Alex) Jones of Virginia Beach, VA, Breeaunna (Aaron) Zilonis of Saint Peters, MO, Haylee (Sam) Zilonis of Saint Charles, MO, Trey Weekley of Saint Charles, MO, Zada Elston and Chad "CJ" Elston, Jr., of Saint Charles, MO. Carol was also blessed with six great-grandchildren whom she loved and treasured: Ava, Jordan, Liam, Caiden, Harmony and Nova. Brother Walter "Red" (Patti) Martin, Jr., Sister Susan (Larry) Howes, brother-in-law Vincent Bailey, and Sister-in-law Linda Martin survive. Carol loved her siblings very much, she was preceded in death by brother Lawrence "Ray" Martin and three sisters, Florence (Joe) Puzzo, Patricia "Patty" (George) Hecht and Lynda Lou Izeman. Carol married Fernando Sanchez on May 7th, 1997 in Saint Charles, MO., where they lived with their granddaughters and partner in crime Guappo. . Carol worked for Country Inn and Suites as the head cook for breakfast and enjoyed her job and coworkers very much. She knew no stranger and would befriend anyone she met. She enjoyed spring and summer the most because that meant barbeque season and she loved a good cookout especially when her family attended, however it did not stop her from grilling during any season. Carol spent the last 8 years living with her best friend Debbie and enjoying her company, especially when it came to watching the Kansas City Chiefs or a favorite tv show like Bones or CSI. To Carol: Independent woman, beloved coworker, family member who you could always count on, preparer of the best potato salad, Neighborhood Momma, Nana, Mom and most importantly an amazing woman who wanted to leave the world a little better than she found it. Your family lovingly thanks you and we love and miss you. Per her request Carol was cremated at Alternative Funeral & Cremation Services. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 1st at The Wine Cafe on 703 S Main St., in St Saint Charles, MO from 3pm-6pm. Dinner will be served.
