Brenda Jean POWELL

Brenda Jean Powell, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on December 5th, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, John Wayne Powell, known as Wayne, and her father, Ralph Eugene Barks. She is survived by her devoted mother, Ella Mae Barks; her daughters, Jessica Jeannine Powell (Aaron Hausermann), Katie Lynn Powell, and Melissa Dawn Powell; her treasured grandchildren, Jordan, Daylan, Kalyn, Emilia, Rowan, Gabriella, and Edwyn; and her siblings, Cindy Hunt, Sherry Zaleuke (Richard), and Jennifer Parker (Mark). Brenda is also remembered with deep gratitude by her dedicated friend and caretaker, Debbie Nowak, and her loyal longtime friend, Brett Wakeman. Brenda embodied unconditional love in its truest form. When she loved, she loved wholeheartedly, seeing beyond imperfections and challenges to the heart of each person. She recognized good intentions even in difficult moments and extended grace with a tenderness that defined her spirit. Her love was steadfast, generous, and deeply rooted in her faith. She remained devoted to her husband, Wayne, and dedicated her life to her daughters and grandchildren. Brenda taught her girls to be both gentle and strong, to live boldly, and to take ownership of their own happiness. She helped them understand that sadness and joy often walk hand in hand, and that the hardest moments can make life’s joys shine even brighter. Known for her honesty and authenticity, she spoke truth with courage and kindness, creating a home where her daughters always felt seen, valued, and understood. Although Brenda lived with little, she lived abundantly in the things that mattered most. She valued people far above possessions and cared deeply for her loved ones, often giving of herself so that others could have more. Her generosity, compassion, and unwavering love touched everyone who knew her. Brenda cherished fun and adventure. Whether she was enjoying trips to Six Flags or Raging Rivers, watching movies, camping, floating, or taking spontaneous getaways, she filled her family’s lives with laughter and unforgettable memories. Her joyful spirit brought light even to the simplest moments. Brenda’s strength, laughter, and kindness leave an enduring legacy. Her family is profoundly grateful for the time they shared with her, the adventures she inspired, and the lessons she leaves behind. While her passing brings sorrow, her family finds comfort in the knowledge that she is at peace. Her memory will continue to guide and uplift those who loved her. Services will be held at Star Hope Baptist Church on January 3rd at 11 am, with visitation beginning at 10 am. A small ceremony will follow at the graveside.
