BORGMEYER, Anna

Anna Mae Borgmeyer, St. Charles, MO, returned to the Lord on Monday, May 27, 2013 at St. Joseph Health Center. She was 78. Anna Mae was born on November 26, 1934 to George and Bibiana Mosher. She was a graduate of Wentzville High School. She married Kenneth Borgmeyer on May 31, 1958, and they made their home in St. Charles. Together they raised three children, Barbara Ann, Brian Christopher, and Thomas Edward Borgmeyer. Anna Mae worked for many years at Borromeo Catholic School as a cook, and over the years she cooked for many friends and fellow parishioners at St. Charles Borromeo Church. In time this developed into a successful catering business. Catering allowed her to work alongside her husband and sidekick “Boogie” and often with her children, preparing meals for the celebrations of many friends over the years. Anna Mae also worked for Community Living for the Handicapped, and was an active volunteer, delivering meals or running errands for friends along with her daughter Barbara. She and Barb also cooked meals for the priests at Borromeo. Anna Mae cherished her Catholic faith and offered hope and prayers to all she knew. In 1987, she made a pilgrimage to Medjugorje with Barb and her mother-in-law Agnes Borgmeyer. This was a life-changing experience, one which she appreciated and reflected on for the rest of her life. For many years she helped coordinate a prayer chain, both receiving prayer requests and passing them on to members who were devoted to pray for the needs of others. She was a song leader at Borromeo Church for around twenty years. She treasured the time spent with her grandchildren, Lucy and Ben, and looked forward to hearing about their activities and interests. On May 11th, Anna Mae was present for Lucy’s graduation with the McAuley High School Class of 2013. Her family will always be grateful that she was able to make this trip to Joplin to attend the Baccalaureate and Graduation. Anna Mae is survived by her husband Kenneth, son Tom Borgmeyer of Orchard Farm, son and daughter-in-law Brian and Tracy Borgmeyer of Joplin, grandchildren Lucy and Ben, brother and sister-in-law Wayne and Carolyn Mosher of Troy, MO, sister-in-law Jackie Lauer of St. Charles, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her mother and father-in-law, her sister-in-law Betty Kopetzky, and her beloved daughter, Barbara Ann. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 1st at 9:00 am at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. A Memorial Mass will begin at 10:00 am, followed by lunch in the church cafeteria. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
