Betty Ann ALDERSON

Betty Ann Alderson, age 92, passed away peacefully November 20, 2020. She was born June 22, 1928 in St. Louis, Missouri to Roman and Virginia Jansen and with her younger sister, Nancy, lived at various locations in the St. Louis area. Betty attended Normandy High School and graduated in 1946. Her first job was working as an operator for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company (Wabash District-7 years). She was also employed at Joy Shoe Company. Betty married Thomas B. Alderson (Tim) on May 27, 1950 who preceded her in death in 2010. Tim built a house for her at 3132 Duquette Drive in St. Charles, Missouri where she raised her family of three children: Deborah Lee, Thomas Bradley II and Christine Ann. She was a mother, housewife & homemaker and took care of the Hedges household (1970) in the neighborhood. Betty was the first cook and first paid employee for the St. Charles Meals on Wheels program where she planned and prepared meals for 7 years starting in 1972. Betty and Tim traveled around the world visiting China, Asia and Europe. They lived in Melbourne, Australia for 1½ years while Tim worked for McDonnell Douglas/Boeing. Upon retirement, Tim purchased an RV Camper and they visited all 50 United States. She loved the scenic beauty of our national parks and enjoyed attending music festivals. Their love of travel had them joining a caravan for a road trip to Alaska and then they drove completely across Canada to Nova Scotia. Sailed on several cruises including the Caribbean Sea, Alaska’s Inside Passage, Mexican Riviera, Panama Canal and Baltic Sea. Betty was active with the St. Charles Presbyterian Church and volunteered at the St. Charles Visitor & Convention Center, the Gift Shop at St. Joseph Hospital and the information booth at St. Louis Lambert International Airport Her grandchildren called her “Nannu”, and she was known as the “Queen of Cards” because she always had a card ready to be mailed to family and friends for any important occasion. Family includes her three grown children; Debbie Cuthbert (Scott-deceased), Brad Alderson (Marsha) and Chris Budde, (Russ) Grandchildren; Ryan Budde, Blake Budde, Lauren Thayer, Julie Alderson and Emily Alderson, Cory Jokerst [deceased] Great Grandchildren; Adison & Averi Budde, Ella Budde, Lillian & Arleigh Thayer, Faith, Piper & Shyann Jokerst Donations can be made to your charity of choice in her memory.
