Margaret Ann HOLLAND

Margaret Holland passed away peacefully in her sleep September 3, 2023, at the age of 82. Margaret was born to Elmer and Grace Caldwell on April 9, 1941. Margaret Caldwell and Freeman (Sonny) Holland united in marriage on January 7,1967. Together they had four children; Robin (Robert) Rose, James Holland, Roy (Kelly) Holland and RoseMary (Steven) Peuster and five grandchildren; Margaret Oswald, JT Holland, RJ Holland, Ryan Robertson and Paul Robertson. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband and her parents Elmer and Grace Caldwell. Margaret had a love for flowers, it made her so happy when it came time to plant new ones and purchase her yearly hanging baskets. She didn’t just love outdoor plants, she also had many indoor plants and each year at Christmas she would get a poinsettia in hopes to keep it alive until the next Christmas but, that never happened. She cherished having a beautiful yard to sit outside and admire while talking to her neighbors, Dagmar and Walt. She loved cooking, baking and feeding others. No matter how little or how much she had; she always made sure that everyone had something to eat even if it meant not eating herself. She always said if you leave my house hungry it's your fault. She also loved to quilt and sew. As soon as she found out someone was pregnant, she immediately started making a blanket knowing it would take her the whole nine months to finish the blanket. In addition to her hobbies, she was a HUGE St. Louis Cardinal Fan she loved baseball and the Clydesdales. She often would yell at the players to run, while watching them on TV, like they could hear her and gave herself the credit when they got a home run. She loved to read and probably has more books than a library! When she lost her eyesight, her daughter got her audio books so she could listen to them. Margaret worked at St. Johns Baptist Church in the mom’s day out program. She loved to work with children and babies, so this was the perfect job for her. She spent most of her life as a stay-at-home Mom and Grandma. She loved her grandchildren more than anything. She loved dogs and her house would become the home of a dog if they wondered to her house. She passed the love of animals to her children. She also loved her old shows Colombo, Matlock and her absolute favorite, Golden Girls. She was not a technical person but even blind she could find the Golden Girls on her iPad. Her sense of humor stayed with her until the end, she would tell the staff she was at Shady Pines, and everyone would laugh about that. In addition to Margaret’s role of Mom, Grandma and Wife, she was a friend to many.
