Merle L. Tilden, age 92, of St. Peters, MO and formerly of Nashua, NH died Saturday morning, January 28, 2012 in St. Peters. She was born December 14, 1919 in Needham, MA, the daughter of Earle and Merle Swain Lowell.

Ms. Tilden was a retired secretary in the banking business and was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Weldon Spring, MO. She was a co-founder of the Junior Women's Club of Portland, OR.

Survivors include her daughter, Judith Warren of St. Peters, MO; a son, Freeman Tilden III and his wife, Melissa, of Laurens, SC; a sister, Marjorie Walker of South Yarmouth, MA; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Freeman Tilden, Jr. in 1995, a sister, Muriel Thorup and her son-in-law, Robert Warren.

A memorial service is planned for 7 p.m. Thursday, February 2, at St. John's United Church of Christ, 945 Wolfrum Road, Weldon Spring, MO. [See attached map.]  Her cremains will be interred later at Riverside Cemetery in Milford.

Those wishing to honor Merle's memory may contribute to St. John's UCC Mortgage Fund or Heartland Hospice in care of Alternative Funeral & Cremation Services, 2115 Parkway Dr., St. Peters, MO 63376.

Most recently though, te times I drove from my home in Longwood to her home in Sebring and spent weekends with er, going to church and shopping, taking in a show, etc…and most of all er wonderful conversations, reminising and good food se would prepare while I was there…she was a wonderful cook and I love her very much.
